Value/Reminders in Life

If habitual actions and mindset have not yet changed to be what you want, regular reminders serve a very important purpose in life to make sure we stay on the path we want to be on.

I'm not talking about simple day-to-day reminders such as;

  • I need to buy milk
  • I need to exercise today
  • I need to finish reading that chapter/book etc

Reminders and values often help form the core essence of our human values. Growing up and going to school, we learn about basic values that we all carry with us till our death.

For example:

  • Coming to school on time, going into work on time
  • Learning good manners, saying 'thank you' and 'please'

Other values that we initially learn/or hear about one or two times, and because there are no constant reminders, we often forget these lessons which may serve us well if we made them a habitual part of our lives.

Some simple examples of this;

  • Being grateful
  • Appreciating the simple things around us, nature, flower, the blue sky etc.

Taking the first point above, being grateful for whatever we all have is such an important mindset in this day and age where our anxieties, stress and competing to keep up with the Jones's has a serious and negative affect on our mental health. Yet we (or at-least I) regularly forget, about being grateful for all the blessings I have in my life.

If there is a way to schedule or program these reminders, our mind-set may change to become more tuned to what we want it to be so that we can be more focussed on the other things we want to do.
