Lessons Learned
There is this little known document that should be created at the end of a project.
It should play a small but significant role every time a new project spins up and gets running.
-- PS: Both PMI and Prince2 have it in their frameworks. Agile should also have it as part of the end of sprint/cycles review
It’s the Lessons Learned.
In all of the new projects/agile sprints I've been involved in over the years, I don't ever hear about it… Curious to know why?
-- Are all projects going so smoothly that no new lessons were learnt? I hardly think so.
-- Is it because the lessons learned items captured aren't that great?… hmm
-- Or it is too much hassle to review something that is might be considered old/obsolete? … plausible
-- Are we just too time poor and only focused on delivering the next set of priority items? … likely
I'd genuinely love some feedback on this one.
Regardless of the type of project methodology or framework being used etc.
Opportunities should be taken to input lessons feedback so that efficiencies continue to be made and errors/mistakes can be avoided without them becoming registered issues.
If you are in a position of influence, ask about the lessons learned… why is not sourced or referenced again
