"Don't be afraid to fail big to dream big"
"Don't be afraid to fail big to dream big" - Denzel Washington
Or similarly - "Risk big to win big".
Some of us might be able afford to "lose big". Such quotes from celebrities sound exciting, however, MOST of us by nature are risk-averse and simply cannot afford to put all our eggs into the one basket.
Equally, there is a lot of reading material on little wins and building momentum.
What I don't often see mentioned, is little fails.
A little fail is the opposite of a big fail. The loss of a single egg as compared to losing the full dozen.
- Little fails in life play an equally important role in building character, learning or re-learning skills and providing the necessary feedback acting as an input to the next subsequent decision.
The point of this post is to remind myself firstly and all of you, that little fails play a major part in ones life. Lessons learned here are almost always carried forward in career and life growth.
Every time a new project is initiated, or when team members are on-boarded, lessons taken from their wins is great. As importantly however, don't forget to talk about their little fails.
- You will be surprised with what you hear.
Have a great day.
